The term electrical wiring refers to installation of electrical wires or the act or process of the installation of a system of electrical wires, or a system of electrical wires or a network of electrical wires. The terms cabling, electrics, electric wiring, and electrical systems also refer to the same term.

Electrical wiring may also be referred to as insulated conductors used to carry electricity, and associated devices. Car wiring, home wiring, telephone wiring, trailer wiring, thermostat wiring, house wiring, structured wiring, and basic wiring are terms widely used when referring to the subject of electrical wiring. Electrical wiring accessories include cable accessories, conductors, panel wiring, wiring harnesses, wiring block kits, brass electrical wiring accessories, etc., both ferrous & non-ferrous.

There are certain wiring safety codes prescribed with the intention to protect life and secure property from damage done while using electricity. Depending on the region of location, these regulations are made by local city, provincial or state or national legislation, and amended to model codes prescribed by the respective region's, country's, state's, or city's technical standards setting organizations, or national standards electrical codes.
